Imagine: Thorin getting a spell cast on him that turns him into a toddler. He doesn’t seem to keep any of his adult memories & is extremely fussy, mischievous, and needy. Fili and Kili are assigned to take care of him and he drives them absolutely bonkers! Eventually, Gandalf manages to turn him back & he secretly reveals to Balin that he’d actually kept his adult mind the whole time, but had decided to get revenge on his nephews for the crazy times they put him through while they were growing up

Imagine: Bilbo being worried about raising Frodo, thinking that he’d be a terrible father figure to him. You, as his wife, know he’s dead wrong. So you use your skills as an artist and take a sketch of the two of them one day. Later, you paint it. The next time Bilbo starts to fret, you show him the picture of him fast asleep in his chair before the fire, with a contented, snoring Frodo curled up on his chest. Bilbo tears up and the painting stays on the wall of Bag End for decades afterward

Imagine: Bofur’s hat getting so worn out that it falls apart. Some encourage him to get a new one. Others want him to patch it up with new fabric. He doesn’t like either idea because he’s proud of the wear and tear on it. Each imperfection holds a memory. Finally you ask him to trust you and take the hat away. Two days later you return it to him looking exactly the same. But you’d used your seamstress skills to reinforce the structure and even the tears so that the hat is still structurally sound
