Imagine Bofur's hat getting so worn out that it falls apart. Some encourage him to get a new one. Others want him to patch it up with new fabric. He doesn't like either idea because he's proud of the wear and tear on it. Each imperfection holds a memory. Finally you ask him to trust you and take the hat away. Two days later you return it to him looking exactly the same. But you'd used your seamstress skills to reinforce the structure and even the tears so that the hat is still structurally sound
